Based on the narratives of both victims and offenders, our findings indicated several categories of female teacher offenders including predatory, sexual friendship, and emotionally dependent. We examined interviews conducted with 35 female sex offenders who used their position as a teacher to engage in a sexual abuse of underage students from 1995 to 2016 in a southern state. For the present study, we examined the nature of child sexual abuse among a sample of female teachers, focusing specifically on the onset, situational context, and conclusion of these sexual abuses. Previous research on female sex offenders has focused on understanding behaviors, patterns, and motivations of female sex offenders overall, but only a handful of studies have specifically focused on teachers who are convicted of sexually abusing underaged students. Separation of sexual from violent offending makes it more difficult to identify the most dangerous offenders because sex crimes have a lower probability of occurrence than the combined probability of violent or sex crimes, and both are of public concern.ĭespite growing interest, research on female sex offenders has been limited. Community safety is better served by focusing on offenders' dangerousness rather than on their mental disorder. Actuarial methods can predict which offenders will commit new violent or sexual offenses with a level of accuracy that is useful to policy makers. Social policies concerning sexual predators could be improved through consideration of empirical research on violent and sexual offenders. States have enacted post-criminal-sentence civil commitment statutes and registration and notification laws that provide for identification of convicted sex offenders living in the community. Efforts to reduce the risk they pose to society have intensified. A castrated person may start hating girls. The castrated person may become more violent and may become a misogamist. Other countries - including Norway, Denmark, and Germany - have opted for surgical castration of serious sexual criminals. It has been used in South Korea, Pakistan, Poland, and at least eight states in the US.
